Dearest Father:
I hope you and mother are well. I thought I'd write to let you know
I recently received the Iron Cross 2nd Class!! You were so right when
you said I should join the Luftstreitkräfte. I mean, to go from
a corporal in the infantry to an Oberleutnant!! I hope the money I sent
you will be of good use. Perhaps you can find a better job than that
little hotel.
Most of the other pilots are nice enough to my face, but I suspect they
tell jokes about me behind my back. Oswald seems nice enough though.
He's about the only one who starts a conversation with me. Most of the
others won't talk unless I talk to them. But the women!! They love an
officer in uniform!!
Well, enough for now, I have to go check my machine gun. I prefer
to check the ammo belts myself, fewer jams that way.
Your loving Son,
Bruno
