seaters, managed to damage one before they got away.

Later, engaged a flight of two Farman bombers.  Shot both 
of them down, one in flames.

After finishing assigned duty, I went hunting for enemy 
balloons.  I found 3 and shot them all down.

----------Letter home------------

Dearest Mother,

I am writing to tell you I am doing fine.  It is such 
a relief to be out of the trenches.  All the mud, and 
everything.  We have a new squadron leader, Hauptman 
Strugg.  It seems that HQ has other ideas for Haupt. 
Boelcke.  I am glad for him, but he will be missed.  

You should receive the papers that go with my Iron 
Cross soon.  It's only a 2nd class, but I'm told if 
I keep bringing down British planes and balloons the 
way I have, I'll be awarded the 1st class soon.

Well, I have to get ready for another patrol, until 
next time.
